Welcome to Tony Mattson Photography

Stacks Image 855

I developed my love of wide open landscapes when I was growing up on a farm on the plains of northeastern Colorado.
The landscape was flat, but I loved the look of the wide expanses, the land and, especially, the great blue sky on clear days, or the clouds heralding the approach of wild storms on others.

I remember the excitement of getting my first camera when I was about 9 years old. It was an inexpensive little Kodak 120 roll film camera with a built-in flash (bulbs in those days). I was heading off to summer camp and I used the camera to take pictures of the beautiful Colorado Rockies around the camp.

I’ve been taking pictures ever since, but around a decade ago I became more serious about studying the technical aspects and rules of composition, and, as a result, my photos are reflecting the the image what I was visualizing. That is very rewarding. Photography helps me capture the things that I find interesting and beautiful in our world.

I hope that you find my photos interesting too. Please drop me a line here and let me know what you think.
